Taylorsville is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area and sits on an interconnected alluvial plain formed by the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains. 1 The area was settled beginning in 1848, with the first log cabin built on the west side of the Jordan River, and became the City of Taylorsville during Utah's centennial anniversary in 1996. 1
